Registration Process

Registration of Admitted Students

All successful candidates whose names appeared in the admission lists are required to undergo preliminary screening in the Academic Affairs Division of the Registry Department, before course (s) registration at departmental level. At each point of the registration, candidates are required to present original copies of certificates to the screening officers for verification so as to ascertain whether the candidate has obtained the admission requirements of the institution or not. At the end of the certificate verification, the eligible admitted student would be cleared to proceed with the payments of the approved fees and commence the departmental course registration.

It should be noted that apart from this initial screening, the institution will further subject the students to certificate verification before graduation.

Furthermore, to be accepted as a student, eligible to attend lectures and take examinations, every student must duly register within the stipulated period for all prescribed courses at the beginning of each semester.

Procedure for Semester Registration/Payment of School charges

The procedure for the registration and payment of school fees by fresh/ returning students is as approved by the Academic Board which is being reviewed from to time. This can be online or manual as the case may be.

 Procedure for Late Registration

The institution may allow two (2) weeks, after registration period for late registration. Late registration attracts charges of additional …… thousand N…….. for newly admitted students and ……. thousand naira N………. only for returning students as the case may be.

Change of Registered Courses through “Add/Drop”

This is an opportunity to a student who wants make change on his/her registered courses after completion of the registration. The opportunity allows a student to delete (drop), add or substitute course (s) registered earlier.

The changes become effective after approval by the HOD and under no circumstances should a student abandon a course registered for or attend lectures and sit for examination of a course (s) for which not duly registered without having the changes approved through Add/Drop forms.

Registration Guidelines for Students with Carryover Courses

Students who have carryovers and those on probation shall be properly guided during the registration period as follows:

  1. The maximum of units to register per semester must be 24 units.
  2. Students with carryover courses should first register such courses before any new (higher) level courses that is subject to a maximum of 24 units.
  3. Core courses at new (higher) level.
  4. Any stipulated course unit (s) that cannot be accommodated within the maximum 24 units shall be taken during the next (higher) level. This allows students who have outstanding courses at the end of the minimum residency period to continue for additional period of four (4) semesters for 4 semester programmes respectively.

 Registration at Other Units of the Polytechnic

All students are required to register upon presentation of payment of school fees at the following units:

  1. Polytechnic Clinic
  2. Polytechnic Library
  • Student Affairs Unit
  1. Sports Unit
  2. Security Unit
